Univision #1 network for 18-49 demo regardless of language

For the first time ever, a Spanish-language network was the #1 network for the coveted 18-49 year old demographic when Univision beat out all English-language networks for the week of 9/6. Credit is given to the popularity of telenovelas, according to an AP article.

In July, Univision beat all the broadcast networks for the month among viewers aged 18 to 34, Nielsen said. With a growing Latino population and that youthful audience, last week's milestone could become commonplace.

Hispanics to comprise 40% of new TV Homes in 2010-2011 TV season

There will be an increase of nearly 400,000 Hispanic TV homes in the upcoming TV season, Nielsen estimates. That's a 3.07% increase, an far outpaces the total of 0.87%.
